Odd Yao-Yao Graphs are Not Spanners
It is a long standing open problem whether Yao-Yao graphs YY_{k} are all spanners [Li et al. 2002]. Bauer and Damian [Bauer and Damian, 2012] showed that all YY_{6k} for k >= 6 are spanners. Li and Zhan [Li and Zhan, 2016] generalized their result and proved that all even Yao-Yao graphs YY_{2k} are spanners (for k >= 42). However, their technique cannot be extended to odd Yao-Yao graphs, and whether they are spanners are still elusive. In this paper, we show that, surprisingly, for any integer k >= 1, there exist odd Yao-Yao graph YY_{2k+1} instances, which are not spanners
Mixing of 1/2^- Octets under SU(3) Symmetry
We investigate the J^p=1/2^- baryons in the octets based on flavor SU(3)
symmetry. Since baryons with same quantum numbers can mix with each other, we
consider the mixing between two octets before their mixing with the singlet.
Most predicted decay widths are consistent with the experimental data, and
meanwhile we predict two possible mass ranges of the two octets.Comment: 8 latex page

Isospin breaking in scalar and pseudoscalar channels of radiative -decays
In the framework of simple assumption on factorizing a mixing of vector state
with isoscalar components in effective amplitudes of isospin breaking caused by

Fringe analysis for parallel MacroSplit insertion algorithms in 2--3 trees
We extend the fringe analysis (used to study the expected behavior of balanced search trees under sequential insertions) to deal with synchronous parallel insertions on 2--3 trees. Given an insertion of k keys in a tree with n nodes, the fringe evolves following a transition matrix whose coefficients take care of the precise form of the algorithm but does not depend on k or n. The derivation of this matrix uses the binomial transform recently developed by P. Poblete, J. Munro and Th. Papadakis. Due to the complexity of the preceding exact analysis, we develop also two approximations. A first one based on a simplified parallel model, and a second one based on the sequential model.
These two approximated analysis prove that the parallel insertions case does not differ significantly from the sequential case, namely
on the terms O(1/n^2).Postprint (published version
Great Walls from Mao to Now: A Biographical Perspective on Adult Education Inside Chinese Communist Revolution
From 1921 onwards, adult education was a vital corollary of Chinese Communist revolution. In 1954 Yao Zhongda lived near Mao in the Zhongnanhai and became Chief of the Bureau of Workersâ and Peasants Education. He is now 86 years old. The purpose of this study was to capture his biography and reflect on what it means for 21st century China. Data was secured during a 10-day Beijing interview session. Yao is an outstanding figure in Chinese adult education and todayâs scholar-officials could learn a lot from him
Blockchain Technology - China\u27s Bid to High Long-Run Growth
Despite having the second largest economy at 1,000 to ). This is a noteworthy accomplishment since many other developing nations have fallen victim to economic stagnation within this range leading to the term âmiddle-income trapâ. This paper will argue that one of the ways in which China escaped the middle-income trap and will continue to grow its economic influence is through the support of blockchain technology. Research and development, early technological adoption and business climate all play a role in explaining how the Chinese public and private sector have used blockchain technology to encourage economic growth. While there are many questions and misconceptions about blockchain technology and its place in China, this paper seeks only to answer a select few
